Students up to approximately 8 years old study topics that build their foundation maths skills, in preparation for formal academic education. Although most children will be in school at this age, they may not have the study skills needed to make the most of this time, so we help them develop fine and gross motor skills, concentration and study.

 

Students aged approximately 8-10 study topics including: building concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication & division; developing number awareness; odd & even numbers; rounding & estimating; halves & quarters; working with money; length, mass & capacity; reading a clock; following directions using right angles & turns; lists, pictograms & graphs; problem solving.

 

Students aged approximately 10-12 study topics including: understanding large numbers & place value; developing number skills; ordering, comparing, estimating & rounding; fractions of numbers; working with decimals & fractions; application of addition & subtraction skills; shopping; writing time; measuring; area & perimeter; ratio & proportion; symmetry & reflections; drawing nets & shapes; handling data.

 

Students aged approximately 12-14 study topics including: sequences; divisibility rules; ratio, proportion & percentages; working with negative numbers, prime numbers & factors; 24hr clock & timetables; continued development of working with shapes; drawing angles; solving problems using data; mean, median & mode; problem solving.

Students aged above 14 study all topics needed to take them to their formal exams.
